Provided below are a few suggested questions, ideas, or themes for your I Was in Love with a Short Man Once

  1. Did you enjoy the book? Why or why not?
  2. What was unique about the settings of the book, and how did it enhance (or take away from) any of the stories?
    For example, to appreciate any of the stories based in D.C., do you feel you need to have lived in the D.C. area?
    How about the stories based in Florida?
  3. What specific themes did the author emphasize throughout the book? What do you think she was trying to get across to the reader?
  4. Do the individuals portrayed in the book seem real and believable? Can you relate to their predicaments? To what extent do they remind you of yourself or someone you know?
  5. In what ways do the events in the book reveal evidence of the author’s worldview?
